tips for rhinoplasty recovery

Summary: As with many other celebrities, there have lately been some Gillian Anderson plastic surgery rumors. While these rumors are untrue, it does bring up something interesting to discuss

Surprised by Gillian Anderson Plastic Surgery Rumors

We all age in different ways. Sometimes, this truism seems lost on the tabloids and the gossip columnists. Take the case of The X-Files star Gillian Anderson, who has lately been the target of plastic surgery rumors. According to these rumors, Anderson has received facelift procedures and Botox injections in order to maintain her rather youthful look. Anderson herself has denied these rumors, and there’s no reason to doubt it when she says that the stories are “bollocks.” And that’s why, as we said, it’s important to remember that everyone ages differently. Obviously Anderson, who looks incredibly youthful, has aged quite well.

That’s why it’s somewhat difficult to give people a definitive answer when it comes to that, “when should I get plastic surgery” question. If everyone ages at a different rate, then it can be difficult to pin down when that plastic surgery process should start. After all, plastic surgery is designed to mitigate the symptoms of aging—the appearance of aging. It’s not meant to actually turn back time in any meaningful way. That is, plastic surgery is not a fountain of youth—it’s just designed to make you look more youthful.

When Should You Get Cosmetic Surgery?

So what’s the difference between looking youthful and being young? Well, it’s all about appearances. As you age, certain things happen to your skin: it has a certain texture to it, a certain look, a certain feel. Plastic surgery can address the cosmetic side of this, but, of course, not the actual aging process. And once you get plastic surgery you will continue to age. Nothing can stop that. And that’s why we say you’ll look youthful instead of saying you’ll look young. Nothing can actually turn back the clock—nothing will make you look 20 again. But plastic surgery is designed to make you look youthful for your age.

This is not to say that there aren’t real benefits to this. Looking more youthful can certainly lead to a more youthful sense of energy and radiance. In other words, how you look in the mirror certainly has an impact on how you feel. And if you look more youthful, there’s no reason to believe you won’t feel at least a little more youthful. For patients that are feeling a little aged beyond their years, that can be a wonderful feeling. For other patients, it’s a way of slowing down the passage of time—in other words, it’s not turning the clock back, it’s just stopping it a bit.

The Best Time Depends on You

According to the website of the Minneapolis Medspa Carillon Clinic, there are even injections of vitamins (such as a B12 injection) that can give your immune system a much needed and added boost. This certainly helps you feel better!

In other words, there are plenty of benefits to plastic surgery. Some of those benefits include:

  • A more youthful feeling overall
  • A more youthful look (obviously)
  • Increased confidence
  • Increased self-esteem
  • Increased radiance
  • Fewer lines
  • Fewer wrinkles

Of course, the list goes on—and the contents of that list will really depend on your own plastic surgery procedure. The point of what I’m saying, though, is this: everyone’s plastic surgery needs are different because we all age at different rates. To make things even more complex, not all plastic surgery procedures are even designed to mitigate aging. Some are designed simply to change the way you look. For those procedures, age is much less of a deciding factor.

Procedures that are designed to mitigate the signs of aging include the following:

  • Facelift
  • Browlift
  • Eyelid Lift
  • Breast Lift
  • Botox
  • Dermal Filler Injections
  • Laser and Energy Procedures

Something for Anyone, but Not Needed for Everyone

And, of course, that’s just a small sampling. The nice thing is that there are plastic surgery procedure options for just about everyone (and non surgical options as well). But that doesn’t mean that everyone should get plastic surgery. As with Gillian Anderson, it’s completely up to the patient whether plastic surgery or any kind of cosmetic procedure is a good idea. Some people age quite gracefully while others are simply quite comfortable with the way that they age.

This, hopefully, is enough motivation to take it easy on the Gillian Anderson plastic surgery rumors. She is certainly one who has aged gracefully—and even if she hasn’t, what procedures she has or has not undergone is no business of ours. After all, you would expect the same privacy if you wanted to go in for a plastic surgery procedure. And if you’re thinking about your wrinkles, contact a plastic surgeon today.
