laser hair removal benefits

Summary: For some people, body hair is no big deal. And there’s some definitely logic there: body hair is completely natural, and there’s little wrong with showing it. However, some people do prefer the smooth look. And getting that smooth look can be quite difficult, depending on the day (and depending on how much time you want to devote to it). So what’s the best way to get rid of hair? That all depends on you.

Looking for the Best Way to Get Rid of Hair

Labor Day has passed, which means that summer is officially over. It’s all jeans and long pants from here on out, right? Yes. And no. Obviously, much of how you dress for the weather will depend on where you live. There are some parts of the United States that enjoy pretty moderate temperatures all year round. However, for the vast majority of Americans, it’s time for sweatshirts and pants!

This means that you can finally take a break from shaving your legs, right? For some women, this is absolutely true. Winter provides a nice little respite from shaving and waxing. After all, no one’s going to see your legs! For other women, that smooth feeling is important to maintain no matter who sees (or doesn’t see) your legs.

So what’s the best way to get rid of hair around your body? Turns out, there’s no right answer for this—and there are advantages and disadvantages to each approach.

Get Rid of Hair in a Hurry

Sometimes, whether you’re shaving your legs or you armpits, you’re just looking to get smooth in a hurry. There are a couple of ways to do this:

  • Traditional razor: This is, perhaps, the most common way of getting rid of hair. And by traditional razor, we don’t mean to take away from the remarkable innovations made by razor companies (with their many blades and gentle curves). The advantage of a razor is that it gets pretty darn close pretty dark quick; the downside is that hair tends to grow back in an itchy kind of fashion.
  • Electric Trimmer: To be sure, a quick pass with an electric trimmer probably won’t get your legs to feel silky smooth. But if you need to get rid of visible hair to wear your favorite dress in a hurry, an electric trimmer will probably do the trick. Just beware if you use an electric device often without any kind of lubricant: you may get dry, itchy skin.

Shaving is probably the most common way that people choose to get rid of body hair, whether it’s in a small space or a big surface.

Long Term Hair Removal Methods

If you’re in the fortunate position of having planned ahead, it’s possible that you can utilize a long term hair removal method. Now, we call these “long term” because the results last longer than the results you might get from shaving. That said, the variety in “long term” is about as large as you can image.

  • Waxing: The results you get from waxing are about as silky smooth as possible. And even better, because waxing (essentially) removes the entire hair, you’ve got a couple of weeks to enjoy those results. The downside is twofold. First, waxing takes forever. You can spend your entire evening waxing. Second, waxing is painful. And while you can build up a tolerance for this pain, it never really goes away.
  • Laser Hair Removal: The big daddy of all hair removal practices, laser hair removal can effectively eliminate your unwanted body hair—permanently. It will either never grow back or it will take several years for your hair to grow back (individual results will, of course, vary). According to the website of the Twin Cities Laser Hair Removal experts at Carillon Minneapolis, this procedure is a great way to get smooth skin without all the fuss of shaving or waxing. There are downsides, of course; this procedure may take several sessions. Additionally, it may take a few months to see your desired results. Finally, there’s some extra costs involved. For most patients, however, laser hair removal is worth the cost!

The Best Time is Now!

Bundling up during the cold winter months can definitely save you from shaving in the short term, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a long term plan. Getting laser hair removal during the winter months, for example, can mean that you’re ready to show off your smooth skin in June.

Now, smooth skin isn’t going to be a priority for everyone, and we should definitely remember to respect everyone’s individuality. However, if smooth skin is a priority for you, then at least you know you have several options in terms of how to successfully achieve that smooth skin. As we mentioned before, each of those methods have their own advantages and disadvantages.

But at least that means you can probably find the right one for you!
