The Skin You’re In

We’ve all been there. You look in the mirror and the face you see surprises you. Whether its from aging, tanning, a horrible accident or just bad genetics, sometimes our skin just isn’t in the shape we wish it was. There are always surgical options, but one solution may be the easiest one yet: dermabrasion. If you’ve tried all the creams and tricks you can think of and still haven’t seen results, a new approach may be necessary. Many of the patients who visit the New Jersey Plastic Surgeons at East Coast Advanced Plastic Surgery love dermabrasion, and we know you will too.

How it Works

Dermabrasion is a technique that uses a wire brush or a diamond wheel with rough edges (called a burr or fraise) to remove the top layers of the skin. Dermabrasion removes the surface of the epidermis of the skin to reveal a new layer of skin. This “new” skin gives you a smoother and more refreshed appearance. The procedure can be preformed on small sections of skin or the entire face, and it can typically be mixed with any other procedure you may want to undergo. Dermabrasion is flexible, and as long as you’re a good candidate for a procedure of this nature, it is guaranteed to give you incredible results.

Why Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion can achieve more than you imagine. Dermabrasion is a procedure intended to reduce the appearance of fine and deep wrinkles. It can even help to even out skin surfaces that are uneven as a result of scarring from accidents or previous surgery. Plus it smooths out wrinkles around the mouth… what could be better? An added bonus is that dermabrasion has also been found to be useful in the removal of per-cancerous growths called keratoses. All in all, you can’t really afford NOT to get dermabrasion!

How Do I Know if Dermabrasion is for Me?

You may be a good candidate for dermabrasion if you are in good health, and have one or more of the following skin issues:

  • Wrinkles and fine facial lines
  • Sun-damage
  • Scars from surgeries or injuries that have healed
  • Hyper pigmentation
  • Inactive acne scars
