Summary: Winter seems to be lasting forever, but the truth is, summer is right around the corner. A time for bikinis, crop tops, and maybe even some skinny dipping… is your bust-line ready?
One of the best parts about summer being on its way is that we will finally be able to ditch our layers. No more sweaters, scarves, or anything else covering up our amazing shapes. While many of us are embracing this, to some it might sound terrifying because they aren’t happy with their shape. If you love hiding behind your winter layers because you are insecure about your bust size, fret no more- breast augmentation can help you achieve a look you can’t wait to show off, and even better news- you’ll be healed in time for bikini season.
It’s All About the Implants
Breast augmentation typically refers to breast implants because they are the most commonly used way to increase the size of a woman’s bust. The procedure isn’t as scary as you may think, in fact Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Tholen reports that on average, his breast augmentation patients are ready to go back to work after 1 week of recovery. With quick recovery times and customizable options to achieve the look you desire, you can get your confidence back before the sun comes back out to play! Keep researching and you’re sure to be convinced that breast implants are right for you.
Types of Implants
There are 2 main types of implants: saline, and silicone. Below is a brief description of each so that you can begin to prepare to make the decision that’s right for you:
- Saline breast implants are implants filled with sterile salt water. If your implant shell were ever to leak, a saline implant will collapse and the saline will be absorbed and naturally expelled by the body. Saline is the most “natural” type of breast implant for this reason. Saline breast implants also provide a natural looking shape, with a good amount of firmness. They are also FDA-approved for augmentation in women 18 years and up.
- Silicone breast implants are filled with a type of silicone gel. Some believe that this gel more resembles the feeling of natural breasts than saline does. If your silicone implant leaks however, the gel may remain within the implant shell, OR it may escape into the breast implant pocket. Silicone breast implants have had a slightly more controversial past, but were recently FDA-approved for augmentation in women 22 years and older.
